Day5 Thesis Statement

We will be able to:
  1. Describe characteristics of effective thesis statements: located at end of introduction, being specific and focused, often using parallel structure, conveying purpose of writing, and offering a subtle preview of the paper’s content
  2. Distinguish between effective and ineffective thesis statements based on aforementioned criteria
  3. Infer the audience, purpose, and content of an essay based on language markers in a thesis statement and in turn, write a thesis statement given the audience, purpose, and content of an essay.
  4. Self-evaluate presence/absence of an effective thesis statement in their own writing and propose revisions based on new knowledge from lesson
